This report documents the results of student/instructor surveys taken after the first WGCapD E-learning Course held in 2014, Introduction to Remote Sensing Technology, and discusses lessons learned and to be applied for future courses. The main goal of this course was to disseminate remote sensing technology to African university lecturers, encouraging them to take what they’ve learned and introduce the applications of remote sensing in their own classrooms. The E-learning Course website provides more detailed information about the course.
The WGCapD and the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) hosted a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Workshop in Nairobi Kenya on May 6-10, 2013. The purpose of the workshop was to build capacity in the East African region for using satellite-derived digital elevation data in a variety of ways, but with an emphasis on hydrological models. This report summarizes lessons learned during this first of several DEM Workshops, to be applied in future workshops.
