A big congratulations and thank you to two CEOS Agencies, the European Commission (EC) and the European Space Agency (ESA) on the successful launch of Sentinel-2B, one of a suite of satellite missions to be launched over the next several years as part of the European Union’s Copernicus environmental monitoring program.

Free and open access to the Earth imagery Sentinel-2B (and the earlier launched, Sentinel-2A) will inform a variety of applications, to include urban planning, air-quality monitoring, tracking deforestation, glacier retreat, and more.

Watch the launch video and learn more on a recent BBC article, which also discusses next steps for Sentinel-2B and how the mission fits into the big picture of the Sentinel series and overall Copernicus programme.
