On October 29th, 2018, CEOS Agency JAXA’s Greenhouse Gas Observing SATellite-2 “IBUKI-2” (GOSAT-2) and new CEOS Member UAE’s KhalifaSat were successfully launched from the Tanegashima Space Center. The same day, CEOS Agency CNES’ China France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSat) was also placed into orbit, launched from the Jiuquan launch base in Inner Mongolia. CFOSat’s solar array deployed successfully 32 minutes later and the satellite started its science mission to study ocean surface winds and waves.
