The CEOS MIM Database (Missions, Instruments and Measurements Database) is the only official consolidated statement of CEOS Agency programmes and plans. Each year, the database is updated based on survey inputs provided by all CEOS Agencies to reflect the current status of CEOS Agency missions and instruments.
The CEOS MIM Database seeks to support planning and coordination of Earth observation activities by providing a shared information base collected and presented in a consistent format. Uses of the database include:
- Information sharing for future mission coordination
- Mission, instrument, and measurement gap analysis
- Fostering connections between the community and CEOS Agencies
- Content generation for editions of the CEOS Earth Observation Handbook
The CEOS MIM Database is a CEOS Service as outlined in the CEOS Work Plan (see Section 3.13 of the annual CEOS Work Plan, available here). It is supported by ESA, with contributions from all CEOS Agencies.
The Earth Observation Handbook
The Earth Observation Handbook is published periodically by CEOS, presenting the main capabilities of satellite Earth observations, their applications, and a systematic overview of present and planned CEOS agency Earth observation satellite missions and instruments.
The most recent edition of the EO handbook, titled ‘Space data for the Global Stocktake’, explained the Paris Agreement, the Global Stocktake, and the crucial role of EO within, as well as current and future climate change mitigation efforts and challenges. This edition also presented a number of case studies ‘to Inform and Inspire’.
CEOS MIM Database Quarterly Reports
The CEOS MIM Database team publishes quarterly activity reports summarising the latest mission updates and news, paired with information on recent and upcoming satellite launches. Past editions are archived here.
