LPVE27 – Workshop on Land Product Validation and Evolution
Following the successful LPVE 2023, the European Space Agency (ESA), in collaboration with the Land Product Validation (LPV) subgroup of the CEOS Working Group on Calibration and Validation (CEOS-WGCV), invites scientists and experts to share their latest research results at the 2027 Workshop on Land Product Validation and Evolution (LPVE27).
The workshop will be held at ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 8 to 10 June 2027, with the following objectives:
- Review the status and recent developments in retrieval and Cal/Val methods for satellite-derived land products (e.g. LAI/FAPAR, LST, AGB, albedo, snow, fire, GPP/NPP and ET).
- Assess the readiness of existing Cal/Val infrastructures and protocols to support current and upcoming satellite missions (e.g. Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3, BIOMASS, FLEX, CHIME and LSTM).
- Strengthen cooperation among existing Cal/Val networks, identify gaps, and advance the harmonisation of methods.
- Share results from recent field campaigns and promote metrological practices in line with Fiducial Reference Measurement (FRM) principles.
- Discuss advances in radiative transfer modelling and retrieval algorithms, as well as approaches to harmonising land products across sensors.
The workshop will include both oral and poster presentations selected through an open call for abstracts, with the final programme defined by the Scientific Committee and the ESA Organising Committee. The event is planned primarily as an in-person meeting, to encourage interaction and exchanges among participants.
The workshop’s website including the abstract submission portal will open in December 2026. Further information, including the abstract submission deadline, will be communicated in due course.
